The Assignment

Provide various automatic door solutions for the new Vlietland Hospital in Schiedam, Netherlands, including automatic systems for interior swing doors and sliding doors, as well as a large revolving door in the main entrance.

The Challenge

• To develop various automatic systems for a variety of swing doors, including both self-closing doors of made from wood and fireproof, self-closing doors of steel.
• To create a safe, draught-proof and convenient entrance for both patients and visitors.
• To enhance accessibility throughout the facility, while at the same time clearly defining the separate spaces within the hospital for medical staff and visitors.

The Solution

Our comprehensive solution portfolio, dedicated service organization and quality products were key factors in Vlietland Hospital’s decision to work with Besam.

Besam installed a large, two-wing UniTurn revolving door and an accompanying Besam air curtain in the main entrance. This solution offers both draught-proof comfort and convenience to users as well as energy savings to the hospital.

In addition to the advantage of the air curtain, the UniTurn also guarantees a safe escape route and easy access for both abled-bodied and disabled people.

Additionally, 200 automatic swing door systems and 150 sliding doors were installed to provide easy, convenient and safe access between hospital departments. Besam was also contracted to provide preventative maintenance and service for all of the installations.
